 Our Logo and Monogram

The Greenmeadows Intermediate School logo shows a Maori kite and a soaring seabird. Manurewa means “Soaring Bird or Soaring Kite”.

A Maori Chief living at Onehunga owned a kite, which broke loose. The place where it was found was named “Manurewa”.

A soaring bird suggests the heights one can rise to through following the saying, “Piki ki te rangi - Reach for the sky”.

“Students are polite and friendly, reflecting the good relationships they have with their teachers and their friends. There are consistent, clear expectations about behaviour both inside classrooms and in the playground. Classrooms are welcoming, positive learning environments and there is good humour shared by both adults and students. Teachersare skilled at managing students unobtrusively while making it clear that tasks are to be completed and efforts made. In this positive climate, students make constructive choices about their participation in their schooling.”
