Room 9 - Update!

The Term so far...

The students in Room 9 have made a fantastic start to the year.  They have really settled into the routines and expectations at Greenmeadows.  I am thrilled to see so many students in Room 9 wanting to participate in school wide activities.  We have cricket players, softball players, hip hop dancers and it's only Week 6!  There will be many more opportunities during the year for everyone to get involved.

I hope you are all having fun searching for language features, using different sources.

Revision of the various language features we have learnt in class:

* Metaphors (comparing two unlike things without using 'like' or 'as')

* Similies (comparing two unlike things using 'like' or 'as'

* A variety of Adjectives (describing a noun)

* Alliteration (Words beginning with the same letter)

* Homophones (words that sound the same that have different meanings)

Week 6. Room 11

Welcome to Week 6, the first week of Autumn. Many students are noticing the change in temperature. Your child has settled into learning well. They have become familiar with GIS expectations. This week their goals are being formed for the rest of the term.  These learning goals are based on their learning needs. This is an exciting way to plan as it gives them an enormous sense of achievement when they reach them.

Room 20 Week 6 - 8. " How can we preserve estuaries/mangroves habitats, today, for tomorrow?"

In the next 2 weeks, each student is expected to identify one threat that mangroves and estuaries are faced with today. They need to research this environmental issue and find possible solutions as to how we can prevent this from occurring in order to sustain our mangroves and estuaries. Students are to follow the scientific investigation ie:

* Formulate a rich question for the chosen environmental threat
